Life Pulse - Michael Pinsky

Temporary installation for Archilab 2004
Place de la Tour Blanche, Orléans
Life Pulse modifies public lighting to make it react to the individual. By embracing lighting columns, situated in the heart of Orléans, the passerby creates an illuminated composition. The lampposts are programmed to respond to the human touch by emitting light at the frequency of the person's heartbeat.
Life Pulse makes the rhythm of the city follow the life of each individual, inverting the traditional relationship between urban dwellers and their environment.

This work has been produced by the CCC in collaboration with the FRAC Centre and the City of Orléans for the architectural festival Archilab 2004.
